A Birthday Discovery
You know how much I love other people’s birthdays, right? I celebrate yours, his, hers and everyone in between. I very happily boast those that I’ve never met before, but whose significant other gave me permission to acknowledge. In which case, I have shouted “Happy Birthday!” to the world wide web, all for someone I have never had the honor of meeting. I have also made some birthday’s my own. By that, I mean, those that HATE their anniversary of their birthday, I have commandeered as mine to celebrate. And then there are those that I have exploited with hosting a huge January party that became an annual shindig for a bit.
So, it is with great excitement, that I celebrate Commander Gree’s birthday for the first time since we met…. over 15 years ago! I could go on, but your assumptions are correct- he just now shared this important date with me, probably by accident, but whatever. lol.
Bear with me, please, (not you Gree, you’ve done this to yourself. Ha!) while I share with you, the story of how we met. I don’t remember the year, but I believe it was 2009 or 2010, and we were in NYC for a bash that I coordinated. Since then, we’ve seen each other in cities all over the country. We even met for drinks at a hotel, near the Austin Airport because I had a flight to catch that afternoon. In fact, I had so much going on during that time that we had originally planned on having dinner, but I got the dates wrong and I was flying out of Austin the same day he flew in.. that was 100% my fault, but he didn’t even get mad! So, to please join me in wishing him the happiest of days.
Gree, you’ve put up with a lot in this thread, but please know that I am lucky to call you a friend. I hope that you have an amazing 50th anniversary of your birthday! Go celebrate. Shout from the rooftops. Drink Champagne. Eat a cake. Yes, an entire cake, all by yourself. You are not required to share, they can get their own damn cake! It’s your 50th and this is something to be acknowledged!
