Airport Apocalypse: A Tale of Woe and Technology
I was all set for a vacation, ready to trade in my glasses for sunglasses and my keyboard for a bloody mary’s. But, CrowdStrike had other plans. 🤣
I arrived at the airport, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, only to find out that our flight was delayed… indefinitely. 🕰️ I mean, who needs a midwest vacation when you can spend the day at the airport, right?
Actually, it was on time, then delayed indefinitely, then cancelled without notice. Just cancelled. While watching the monitors, half the flights went from delayed straight to cancelled.
Eerie.
We were advised to go to a certain gate to discuss options with an agent, and to hopefully get on another flight. Hundreds of us were advised to stand in that line. One line. Three agents.
After hours of waiting in line, we finally reached the front of the queue, only to be told that there were no options. None. No flights and even if we find an alternative, those flights will inevitably be cancelled. 🙄
While standing in line, everyone was trying to access the Delta app. Everyone. It was a digital desert the ended in the circle of doom.
Once we discussed our “no options” with the agent, we were told that our bags will eventually make it down to baggage claim. Eventually.
There were thousands of suitcases lined up, with absolutely no organization in place. Some were in a corner, some on a cart, some over near the elevators. Then I walked around a makeshift partition to see aisles and aisles of abandoned luggage. 😬
I was making my way back to MtnMan, who was standing in line to collect his “security” package, when he saw one of our bags drop onto the belt.
In other words, there was no rhyme or reason as to where the bags would be.. What a cluster fuck of a mess!
So, to all my fellow travelers out there, let this be a lesson: always pack a sense of humor, a fully charged phone, and a healthy dose of patience. And to CrowdStrike, I say: thanks for the laughs, guys! Fuck off. 😂
By the time we retrieved our bags, it was 10p and all restaurants were closed. We had a convenient store hot dog and found the only hotel that still had rooms available. Believe it or not, it was reasonably priced and clean.
Tuesday we drove home and I unpacked; Wednesday I became one with the sofa.
It ended up being a good week, all in all, and as disappointing as it was, it is what it is. However, I found myself struggling to get back into my cam routine, so after being LIVE on Thursday, I decided to spend yesterday working on OnlyFans and catching up on messages.
Today I am doing website edits and uploads. I will be on cam tonight.

Sorry you had to go through that? Sounds like you had a good sense of humor about it. I bet it was hard not to be frustrated at the time

It was disappointing and frustrating at times, but there really was nothing that could have been done and, although, they had zero organization, the agents that were left to deal with the customers were not to blame. So, no reason not to have a sense of humor to go along with the flow of things. It is what it is.
