    Rain!

We had huge rain systems move through most of Texas this past week, and it was glorious! Granted, we had flash floods, but damn we needed it and continue to need more. The vegetation has been given a rebirth, the ground is saturated, the wells are slowly replenishing and our water tank is full. All from the rains we’ve had this week. It gives me hope. Hope that our beautiful hill country isn’t going to turn into a desert. I hope this means “el nino” is here to stay for awhile… He should just unpack his bags.

    Infuriating Frustrations

I feel like I might owe you all an apology. I try to give you guys the real me, which is generally very positive and upbeat. However, this past week I’ve been in a “mood” and today sent me into a rage, which I tweeted some of. I’ve always tried to keep that to a minimum because you all are amazing, and the issues that are behind the scenes with cam sites are not your problem. With that said, nothing has been resolved. For whatever reason AT&T suddenly has a problem connecting to Streamate.com and it’s been going on for four weeks. The response I got was hours of frustrations…

Places to Go, People to See

Are you from Nebraska, or have you traveled through the Cornhusker state? We’re staying in and around Omaha so if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear from you. We don’t have much time, and I do plan to go visit the elephants in Omaha, but I might never be back… so, if there’s some historical must see, I need to know! Maybe I’ll find an old abandoned barn…. to get naked in. *wink*

Trip to the Great Plains of Nebraska

Next Wednesday we’re heading up to Omaha with another couple. We’re going to go see Rod Stewart and Santana in Lincoln, and since they’re from Omaha, we’ll stay with their family. They have a sweet story. She moved to Austin for the music scene and flew home for the holiday’s a few years ago. While there, she reconnected with an old friend, and by the time her trip was coming to an end, they were madly in love. Within a month, his parents moved him down and within a few months they were married. Since they have no family in Austin, we’ve become their “Texas Parents”, and we’re nothing like…

    You Can’t Fuck with Tradition!

We’ve had the traditional “Roo Song” since 2006, and well, I can’t change that. However, I think we need an elephant song to represent the zoo we will one day have. LOL. So…. do you know of an elephant song? If so, please post the link here. I’d love to have several ideas from you guys. You know, to make this a little interactive again. Once I have several songs, I’ll post another thread so we can all vote on which one should represent. Game?

What Memorial Day Means to Me…

Memorial Day isn’t the day that starts summer, nor is it the day that gives me an excuse to head to the lake to drink like a fool. Memorial Day is the one day that we, as a country, actually stop to think about our freedom. It’s the one day that, as a whole, we appreciate those who gave their lives and sacrificed their futures so that we could have one. Many never made it home while others did, but let us not forget what they ultimately gave. Their lives. I’m thankful for all soldiers, nurses, families and lives from past and present wars and those who pick up the…

    I Want One! Just One!

I know it’s obvious I have obsessions, and one of my biggest ones would be Elephants, but they’re such precious creatures! They experience like we do, and they get happy and sad and they have friends.. I want to be a friend. lol. I just had to post this picture that Cliff sent me. It made me smile. We’re going to Omaha, NE next month and we’re going to go to the zoo. It’s apparently the biggest one in the world. In THE world! They also claim to be ranked number 1, which has me very excited! I’ve been to the Steve Erwin Zoo in Australia and that one was…

    Nelson’s Pot

Nelson pretty much did whatever it is Nelson wanted to do. However, he never jumped on the kitchen counters, drank from the toilet, knocked over glass objects out of spite, or climbed all of the book shelves. He claimed one shelf on my bookcase, which never varied, and one pot in the garden. It was his. This was known. It didn’t matter if there were plants in it, each spring he’d reclaim it. I learned to just give him a fresh dirt bed and he was happy. The Monsters have taken over the house, but the garden they’ve pretty much left alone. *knock on wood* All except one pot, which…
