    Announcement and Stuff

Here we are in the middle of March and it’s been well over a month since I’ve made time to blog. My apologies. It seems that the first two months of 2024 was full of travel. We spent a lot of time in Salt Lake City, but also found ourselves in Dallas, Tampa (for 1 day), Orlando and halfway to Miami, and back to Salt Lake. During our weeks long stay in SLC, we took a flight to Jackson Hole for a weekend. Some of it was work for MtnMan, some was for doctor appointments and such but Jackson Hole was for a break. I was mostly gone from cam…

Happiest of Days to one of the GOAT’s!

Ha! I’ve wanted to use that for awhile now- GOAT: Greatest of All Time. What a perfect use of the term, to use it in referencing Nicster. You have been one of mine for so many years that it is hard to believe we have celebrated your day for well over a decade. That is crazy when it is put into perspective like that, and I cherish each one of the years we have spent together. I look back in astonishment that I am still online because what I thought would be a short-term hobby, turned into more than I could have ever imagined. The reason I am putting that…

One of the Greatest Days of the Year!

I am so excited we have experienced another trip around the sun with you. It is pretty damn amazing that you’ve allowed us all to celebrate you, or at least, you’ve tolerated me sending out telegrams in your honor for the last 13+ years. Honestly, I’ve lost track of time and hindsight is always 20/20- I wish I’d have created a spreadsheet in the early days to keep track of time, but here we are, and it’s way too late for that. lol. I am very happy that your dogs knew that yesterday was the anniversary of your birth, and they behaved. It sounds like you had a wonderful celebration…

    The Lucky Black-Eyed Pea

I grew up in Texas, raised by Ohioans and surrounded by southerns. I did not learn about the lucky black-eyed pea until my 30’s. Whaaa? It appears that I grew up sheltered, although surrounded by all Texans. One would think I’d have joined into the traditions of eating black-eyed peas on January 1st, however, I did not. In fact, it was only after we stayed with friends on NYE, that I even heard about such a thing. She had made her traditional dish, which was mostly black-eyed peas. Truthfully, I had never even had one of those funny looking peas until then, and the only reason I had the dish…

    New Year’s Resolutions

Making resolutions. It’s a thing. A lot of people make them. I will admit, when I was younger, I made that resolution list. Hell, what did I have to lose? I was going to start the new year with a newfound attitude and new aspirations! I don’t think my list was unreasonable, but let’s be honest, if they were that important, I wouldn’t wait until January 1st. If you’re wondering, I did not succeed in any of my resolutions except for one. Stop Smoking. All others lasted until I became too busy to remember them. Ha! Let’s hear it. Are you one to make resolutions? Yes or No.

A Pecan Pie and a Shit Show

I cram way too much into my Saturday’s, and I end up rushed and sometimes frazzled. Take today, for example. I had a long list to accomplish, and I was successful in all of it. However, my execution towards the end was not pretty. Of course I pushed my time on the computer to the absolute last minute because I wanted to be on cam by 715p EST.  It was 615p EST when I signed off the computer. Plenty of time to shower and get ready for cam. I walked into the kitchen to check on dinner and then I saw it. My pecan pie recipe. I had planned on…

    Favorite Cookie

I am just going to be honest, I have a serious sweet tooth. I love desserts and there’s only one cookie that I’m going to turn down, if it’s in front of me.  Oatmeal cookies will forever be my favorite because Mom used to bake them often, and she had a secret way of making them fluffy. I’m still searching for what that ingredient might have been. It’s been fun and frustrating, in my experimenting of baking, but I am not giving up. Snickerdoodle’s are also a favorite because Mom would surprise us with them from time to time, to break up the oatmeal cookies, which were Dad’s favorite, and…

    Another Thank You Note

I’d like to take this moment to thank my cup of cawfee. It is life! It is warmth in a cup. Cawfee, it’s dark and it’s beautiful.  It’s a smile to brighten the day. Thank you, cawfee. Thank you for being discovered and so amazing. LOL.   Cawfee is life, guys!

    Brain Dump

Gloomy days are better than sunshine. Rain is life, and snow is nice. Sun is extreme, but needed in the spring, so a couple months out of 12 would be bearable; let’s go ahead and cancel summer. Ha! Elephant rides should be banned and zoo’s cancelled. Yes, at one time zoo’s were educational, but have you been to one lately? They are prison cells and it’s sad. However, sanctuaries and rescues, such as the Elephant Sanctuary in TN, are healthy and more educational than any zoo could be.  Goldens are the best. If you don’t have a furry kid, you need a golden in your life. (Dale, Freeway would not…

    Going to the Gym. NOPE!

I have never been excited to work out. I played softball in little league and all the way through high school, and never worked out with my teammates. It was not my thing. EVER. It is still not my thing. As I’ve gotten older, which is just part of life, I’ve noticed that I am losing muscle mass and as active as I am on my days off cam, I’d like to get some of that back.  Going to the gym is, and always will be, a big NOPE. I have no desire to go lift weights with society. Sitting on their sweat and smelling athletes foot in the locker…
