    The Grinch

It is common knowledge that I completely abhor the holiday’s. It is something that has always been a natural hate for me; one I did not have to work at. It was not until recent years that I have realized I could seriously do without the month of December.  You might say I am Ebenezer Scrooge, or the Grinch (except I do not steal presents). It is not that I hate the jolly old fat man, or the cheerfulness that the holiday’s give some people. It is that people put too much stress on themselves and have an image of what the holiday should be.  Maybe I am alone in…

Maxi Dress is NOT a Bridesmaid Gown

Alright, Amazon is really pissing me off with their fucking search engine results and what some shop owners are now tagging their items with. For awhile now it has been impossible to find specific items, such as, pink lingerie, without pages of non-relevant items mixed in.  Now, try searching for maxi dresses (floor length) without pulling up bridesmaid gowns and the like. I am sorry, but a $10 – wear one time on a beach vacation – is NOT a goddamn gown to be worn in a wedding. I do not care how simple and low key that event will be. It is as though stores just want their item…

    Beautiful

I saw this the other day and it speaks volumes to the year, and gives me hope for the next chapter in my life. Be present. Make love. Make tea. Avoid small talk. Embrace conversation. Buy a plant, water it. Make your bed. Make someone else’s bed. Have a smart mouth, and quick wit. Run. Make art. Create. Swim in the ocean. Swim in the rain. Rake chances. Ask questions. Make mistakes. Learn. Know your worth. Love fiercely. Forgive quickly. Let go of what doesn’t make you happy. Grow.

    Spuds in a Pot

Last week I was cleaning and saw that a couple of potatoes were starting to sprout on the counter, and it turns out I had a pot of dirt that I was about to dump and store for the winter. So, the bright thinker that I am, I saved time by shoving the two spuds into the pot of dirt, crossing off two things from my list in just 1 minute! Within a week leaves started sprouting already and now days later it is out of control! So, I will take a picture every other day for us to follow the progress of its growth. I think I need a…

    It Is a Good Day . . .

Today I woke up to fresh snow, a warm house and a happy heart. I stayed in bed for a couple of hours, being lazy, reading and perusing social media. For a long time in my recent past I could not open my mind up to actually enjoy a good book, but now I am back to reading and it has been good for me.  Once I decided to stop ignoring the day and actually got out of bed, I had the house cleaned by noon and was already paying bills and taking care of my list. I am definitely a list-maker and I feel successful each time I cross…

What Smell Makes You Think of The Holidays/Memories

I know, for someone that hates this time of year, my blog has been encased by fucking cheer! Well, not so much cheer, as discussion.  Each memory has a scent that always takes us aback, and I would love to hear what smell makes you think of the holiday’s? For me it is cinnamon. I have to hand it to commercial businesses because almost every store you walk into, starting in the fall, has a bundle of pine cones that are dipped in cinnamon. I won’t buy a bag of them until after Thanksgiving, that is my rule, but then the house smells of Christmas for weeks, and that does…

What is Your Favorite Holiday Song?

Stores have been playing holiday music for over a month now and radio stations since the week of Thanksgiving.  What is your favorite Christmas song and why? Mine would be Santa Baby. It is so sweet and seductive, I love it! However, it is hard to find a good rendition of it and I usually only hear it play once each year. I do have to admit though, that is my fault because I choose not to play holiday cheer on my Spotify!

Why Thanksgiving Should Not Be Over Shadowed

Always wait until after Thanksgiving to start to talk about Christmas.  Here is a little-known background story about one of the season’s best known traditions . . .  A little story to start your Christmas season in the right spirit. When four of Santa’s elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure. Then, Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.. He went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were…

    Unclaimed Surprises

I had a couple packages arrive last week, but they did not have a note enclosed. I would love to know who was so kind to send long-sleeve tshirts and polka-dotted socks. I love them and have already warn a top and socks on cam. They both went over well and I hope to know who to thank for that… so, please respond here or send me an email angel@lonestarangel.net

    Real or Fake?

I have always had fake trees because Mom and my twin were allergic to everything. And, when I say everything, I mean the air around us. lol. I think the tree that we always put up was probably one they brought from Ohio in the late 60’s, but it was a classic. It was simple and not too big, and well made. Now the trees have lights built in that work the first year and then are duds the next, or the branches fall apart. At any rate, I have always bought fake trees. Now, always does not mean often. I was fine with the lights not working after the…
