I realize old habits die hard, and sometimes you fall into habits out of convenience. Sears is one habit I firmly believe Devil needs to give up. For years we’ve gone to their auto shop for new tires. It’s true we’ve always had great customer service, but that is only because there has never been an issue. He usually orders the tires the night before, then sets an appointment the next morning and he drops the vehicle off at the set time, going back a couple hours later. It’s easy. It’s convenient. Last night someone asked me what part of Texas I reside in. I responded with my standard, “central Texas” response, and moved on. A few minutes later he said. “Oh, you’re an Aggie”, which is code for A&M University in College Station. If you don’t know where that’s at, no worries, I’m about to get to that. Last night the clouds finally opened up and dumped buckets of rain on central Texas. It stormed for an hour, or so, and was a heavy down pour. Along with the rain came the cooler weather. It’s 62 degrees today and it’s drizzling! I feel that today is a success, no matter what! Oh, and our water tank is getting rain water, which means we won’t have to to have it delivered next week. Mom would always come into my room and say “Up and at ’em” if I slept past 730a, and it was infuriating at times. Well, mainly because I thought she was calling me Adam and that’s clearly not my name, but also because I didn’t think I was going to miss much at 730 in the freaking morning. A teacher asks her class to use the word “contagious” in a sentence. Roland the teacher’s pet, gets up and says, “Last year I got the measles And my mum said it was contagious.” “Well done, Roland,” says the teacher. “Can anyone else try?” Katie, a sweet little girl with pigtails, says, “My grandma says there’s a bug going around, and it’s contagious.” “Well done, Katie,” says the teacher. “Anyone else?” Little Johnny jumps up and says , “Our next-door neighbor is painting her house with a two-inch brush, and my dad says It will take the contagious.”

Last week a hacker was able to get into computers and access personal pictures of celebrities. Every news channel and internet news feed reported on the story. There are many opinions on the matter, and probably  more speculation than fact, but everyone agrees that those pictures were never meant to go public. They were private. Personal. One news anchor, who I’ve always respected, disappointed me in her reaction. Although, she agrees that the celebrities were victimized, she said, “respect yourself and your body.” She went on to say that if she had respected herself enough, the pictures wouldn’t have been taken and now they wouldn’t be public. There’s a Chinese Restaurant in south Austin that we’ve been frequenting since 1996, and it is our place. I call it “our place” because it’s the one place that has stayed consistent over the years.
