    More Weird Laws

In September I posted a thread after reading an article about Blue Laws, but Hedo sent me a few he found this morning. All of them are news to me, except for the Donkey in the bathtub. lol. It seems I’m not a good, law abiding, Texan. I’ve broken all three laws. Arizona: 1.  It is illegal to hunt Camels in Arizona. 2.  If you have a pet Donkey, you’d better know that it’s illegal to let him sleep in the bathtub. 3.  If you are being attacked by a burglar or criminal you may only protect yourself with the same kind of weapon as he uses. Colorado: 1.  It is…

    Dresses and Shoes

Last month I had several surprise packages, all from WLTN. He sent three dresses and a pair of shoes, all just because he loves to surprise me. The dresses are beautiful and will be perfect for the summer heat we’re sure to endure after our extreme temps this winter. I cannot wait to wear the out. They’re a snug fit and beautifully made. He also sent a pair of shoes, which I always need more of. lol. WLTN, thank you so much for always being so thoughtful and generous. I’m so glad you’ve started to spend some time in the chat room, through my site. You’ve been a great addition…

    Marius the Giraffe

I am so saddened by the latest story of cruelty in a Zoo. A Copenhagen Zoo decided to put a bullet in the head of a healthy 2-year old male giraffe. Marius was bred on site, yet the reason they have given is because he had similar genes to  the other giraffes and want to better the future genes. In other words, they’ve been inbreeding and felt Marius was expendable. A cute, unassuming baby who was living the only life he knew. One of captivity, but a somewhat good life. What outrages me even more is that they had two other sanctuaries offer to take him, and they had protesters…

    Tony is Full of Bologna

Oh, Tony is definitely mine. Out of all three, he’s the one that lets me scoop him up, kiss his face and hold him until I don’t want to. He always is glued to me when I’m on the couch, the one that sits vigil when I’m sick, and the one that snuggles his nose into my hair when I’m trying to sleep. He is also the one who claims my side of the sofa when I’m gone. He also doesn’t feel the need to move when I get in. Sometimes I don’t have the heart to move him, but other times I want my seat so I can eat.…

    V-Day

Valentine’s Day, like many of our modern holiday’s, was to celebrate Christian martyr’s named St. Valentine. The day first became associated with love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. It was established by the Pope  in 496 AD, and then deleted from the Roman Calendar in 1969. Around 1800, a British publisher issued The Young Man’s Valentine Writer, that contained suggested sentimental verses for lovers unable to compose their own. Paper Valentines were popular in England in the early 19th century and were printed in mass production and in factories. Thus began the only Valentine’s Day we know today. Hallmark and flower shops have banked on what first started out as a…

    Hedo’s Winter Wonderland

This has been the strangest weather for us here in Texas. It’s below freezing, with freezing rain, for a few days, then it’s back in the 60’s and now they’re calling for 80’s by this weekend. It’s been like that for the last couple months. But, then those of you through the mid west and across to the east coast  you’ve been getting hit with blizzards left and right. I hope you’re all staying home, and in front of the fireplace. Hedo sent me a few pictures this morning of his winter wonderland. Snow is piled high in the yard, and you can barely see the cars… crazy!

    Our Date Night this Week

Well, Tuesday night was full of unscheduled chaos and it interrupted our normal date night. Not only did it interrupt, it shortened it into a thirty minute tryst. We cannot have that, and I am sorry for the chaos. I’d love for you to join me tonight at 8p EST for our date night fun. Next week will be back to normal, along with bonus Thursday. You guys are absolutely amazing because no one was upset or annoyed that Tuesday night changed without notice. Nor did any of you expect that I make it up to you. That is why I enjoy you all, and will always do my best…

    Dinner with Red

I just got home from dinner with Texas Red, who brought another bag of goodies along with him. We discussed many topics and I’m certain we solved many prolems. lol. Actually, we talked weather, guns, current news and the giraffe from the Denmark Zoo. I’ve decided the zoo owner should be dissected and served to the lions. Devil says that should be a blog post and I said I couldn’t… but here I am talking about it, so maybe there will be a thread regarding that topic. Anyway, moving on before I give up my future blog post. LOL. Okay, so we didn’t just talk about the above topics, there…

    Sochi, What?

Twitter is all ablaze with talks of the Olympics. Exciting times! CNN is full of interviews with people already in Sochi, preparing for the upcoming events. Go Team USA! I don’t know the politics behind choosing a location, but I think maybe Russia was the wrong choice. They had seven years to build the Olympic city, and they failed. That’s a long time to figure things out and fix the mistakes that have so obviously plagued the entire process. The World’s Fair only took about three years to build, covering over 650 acres of land in Chicago. That was in the 1890’s, and I’m fairly certain even Russia has more…
