Goddammit, Devil!
We have a new neighbor that has just moved in next to us. The new guy caught me outside doing yard work several months ago, and then Devil shortly after they signed the papers. He’s a very nice military man who is definitely a talker. He’s been in touch with Devil and would like to have a few beers, now that they’re moved in and unpacked. That sounded good, we’ll go to their place, keep them out of ours. lol. I’m a neighborly neighbor. Last week while I was mowing Devil was hatching a plan. A plan to invite more people over. The only prerequisite is that they live on our road. The runner. The new people. The folks across the way with their lack of dog ownership etiquette. The old people down the road that hired Devil for an afternoon last year. So, that’s approximately 8 people, plus one kid. In my house. Neighbors. Ack! Not that I hate people. No. That would be wrong. lol. Actually, here’s my dilemma. I grew up out here. Very few of these folks are old timers of the area, but most people whom I grew up knowing aren’t aware I’m back. I’ve been back for 14 years. I would like to keep it that way. It’s not that I have a terrible past because I don’t. It’s just that I left my past in the past and if I wanted them in my future I’d be on FB. Is that so bad? I don’t think it is. The other part of my dilemma is that I don’t know what to do with new people. Talk about the weather is usually my go-to-conversation when I don’t know someone. I mean. I don’t know what’s going on in their lives, or I’d ask them about the new project, the job promotion, the whatever.. oh! The new guy and his family! I’ll ask them where they’re from, how they like the house they just moved into and if they found an old vat of meth in the back part of their property. lol. Good talk. Thanks, guys!
