A Bittersweet Find
I have a small safe that was in my parents house, but I’ve never really looked through it. I was afraid I’d get wrapped up in old papers and documents, which would then cause me to become obsessed over history for days, maybe weeks. I finally decided it was time to see what was in there, and to figure out where to put it. I didn’t spend much time on the documents, although, found some pretty neat stuff among the papers. WWII bonds, old Indian money and mortgages and savings bonds. In boxes I found old class rings, wedding rings, Mom’s favorite necklace, a couple pearl necklaces and several old brooches and pins. Mom and grandma always wore a brooch when they dressed up, and I have a couple in my jewelry box that they used to wear, so I was surprised to find tons in the safe.
One of the pins was an elephant with pink rhinestones, which just made me laugh out loud! I love pink and I want an elephant! Another pin was a giraffe with wobbly legs. It’s cute and I want to hug a giraffe right now! lol.
I just thought that was a great and bittersweet find.
