Florida Friend’s

When I left Texas, I left a lot behind. Some intentional, some not so much. But, a change was needed and the start of my new beginnings was full of chaos and uncertainty as to where I was heading. Long story, but it was all good change.

Last year, around this time, I received a text that simply said, “Hi. This is Kristine”

We were at dinner with friends and I had left my phone in the car; I didn’t see the message until 8p my time, which was 11p Florida time.

To say I was over the moon excited doesn’t even cover the emotions I had that night. Kristine and I met in the early days of my online world and became fast friends. Not just good friends, but best of friends. When I lost touch with her it was disheartening and mostly my fault.

Many of you probably remember Kristine. She has a beautiful soul, an infectious laugh and smile the lights up the room.

I missed her.

I replied to her that same night. “OMG!!!! I have missed you soooo much! I know you’re sleeping. I’ll text in the morning. Thank you for this message. I love you!”

And since that night, we have texted daily. It is rare that one day goes by that we do not at least say, “Hi BFF!”

Last month MtnMan and I were in Florida for a convention, of sorts, and flew into Orlando a few days early just so we could see Kristine and her husband, Swamp Dawg. It was amazing! It’s as though we never lost touch and it really warmed my heart.

And, just as much as I missed Kristine, I also missed Swamp Dawg. They are both amazing people and fun to be around. We drove 2 hours to see them, and they drove 2 hours to see us.

We had lunch, then window shopped antique stores and small town boutiques. It was a beautiful day.

They even made time later in the week to join us at the event we were attending, which was pretty awesome in itself.
