My Daily Thanks

Today I am thankful for all of this rain that we continue to be showered with in Texas. As a life long Texan, begrudgingly so, I have experienced many weather extremes, but the worst would be our most recent drought. It was, by far, the worst Texas has experienced and surpassed the record drought of the ’50’s. That drought put in place all of the reservoirs and lakes that were built in order to survive another and it was the first time that plan was tested. Most of the lakes and all of the reservoirs were dry, and all of Texas looked ominous and resembled the desert plains of west Texas. Ack! Not that I do not find beauty in the west, because I do, but not in the hill country.

So, today I am thankful for the rain, despite my frizzy hair. I love walking out and getting rained on, or having to jump over puddles in my flip flops and getting mud splattered on my jeans, or bare calves. It is a delight and I am thankful we are not living in a desert this year.
