April in the Rear View Mirror

The month of April was a busy one on lonestarangel.com and I’m grateful for each one of you. Without you, I would not still have a presence online, so thank you! To give a recap: the fourth month of the year marks my anniversary into the online world with 2023 being the 17th year. That’s amazing all in itself! In celebration the site had daily uploads of full content, not just a few teaser pics or short clips. Full sets. That’s 30 sets of content added last month! For a few days I had a BOGO sale- join for 1 month, get your 2nd one for free. The results were…

    Happy May Day

Happy May Day to you and yours! Did you know that this was a day that was celebrated by the International Worker’s day in the late 19th century? In fact, it was chosen by the Socialists and Communists of the Second International to commemorate the Hamarket affair in Chicago. Well, that does not sound like an event worthy of keeping it a tradition, but whatever.  The earliest May Day was the Festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, that was held during the Roman Republic era. But, in the Germanic countries it was with the Walpurgis Night. The Gaelic Beltane was on April 30th and in the European pagan…

    I Met Broco Lee

This was sent to me by my “Dad Joke Supplier” and I laughed and laughed, and then laughed again. Thus, my decision to share it with you. I hope that you will enjoy the puns, just as much as I did: Today, I met Bruce Lee’s vegetarian brother, Broco Lee. I met a few of his cousins too; The one who can’t take a joke, Serious Lee. The one is always there last minute, Sudden Lee. The one who doesn’t understand Metaphors, Literal Lee. The one who is always throwing shade, Sarcastic Lee. The one who is so sure of himself, Definite Lee. The one you can always predict, Usual…

    Following Jenga on his Walkabouts

I was gifted with a bracelet that allows me to follow a magnificent 35 year old bull elephant around Tsavo West National Park. Jenga has an impressive tracking history, and has been collared since January 2018. Thank you, Amber, for the thoughtful gift, along with the LED lights and the hot pant shorts you also sent. I will enjoy them all, immensely.

The Walled City of North America

There is only one remaining walled city in North America, and that is in Canada. It is one of the oldest cities, which is also a port and happens to be the capital of Quebec province. Quebec: founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, but the first European to discover the port was French explorer Jacques Cartier who was seeking a route to Asia, while also searching for valuable minerals, such as gold. Samuel de Champlain made it a permanent base, and it eventually became a fortified fur trading post. The location gave the French the best access to North America and control over the fur trade because it was…

    Useless, Yet Entertaining Facts

In 10 minutes, a hurricane releases more energy than all the world’s nuclear weapons combined. On average, 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year. I have so many questions. HOW?? WHAAA? A dentist invented the electric chair. Hmm, the chairs to resemble each other, so wow. TYPEWRITER is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard. Nutmeg is extremely poisonous if injected intravenously. YIKES! How do we know this?? Hummingbirds are the only animals that can fly backward. Salt used to be a currency. A giraffe can go longer without water than a camel can. A dragonfly has a lifespan of only…

    Checking In

It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in. Truthfully, it’s been too long. I am on Twitter almost daily, update my site several times a week, but this blog tends to be left in the abyss of empty space any more. This thread is to check in with you; to see how you’re doing and to get your weather report. I’ll go first, just so it doesn’t seem one-sided. Ha! I’m doing well, and truly cannot complain. I’ve been busy, but it’s a good kind of busy. The weather is finally above freezing and we’re starting to see spring-like days. It’s still cold at night, but we’ve gone from 30 straight…

Join for 1 Month, Get Your 2nd for FREE!

This is a sale that I have never offered before, and I might not again. However, with everything going on in the world, and inflation hitting all industries and markets, I feel that it’s time to give even more than what I already have in my 17 year history of being online.     For the entire month, there will be daily uploads; that’s 30 days of content being added to the site. Friday will be new releases, while all other days will be archives.     In September of 2021, I chose to step away from a network based platform and become independent. In doing so, I had to start over, building a…
