    Mom’s Oatmeal Cookies

For the last 10 months I have been baking oatmeal cookies, hoping to figure out Mom’s trick to making them fluffy and soft, without spreading flat. I have tried cold butter, melted butter, quick oats, old fashioned oats, different recipes, and still, once cooled down the cookie would flatten. And, when I say flatten, I mean paper thin and crunchy. I love crunchy, but not when I am trying to make oatmeal cookies like Mom used to bake. I remember the ingredients, so the recipes all were very simple and similar but with slightly different measurements. I was about to try Margarine, because that’s what I grew up on and…

    A Month of Thanks

November is one of my favorite months, and that is because of Thanksgiving. I realize this is a holiday for the USA and our northern neighbors, the Canucks, and not all of us share the same sense of excitement as I do. I get it. We all have different perspectives and experiences, which is what makes us such a diverse community. I am thankful for the diversity in our group and always welcome newcomers. Allow me to share my perspective with you. I grew up in a very loving home but our family experienced a lot of tragedy. Although, my parents did their best to smile and let us be…

VNA and My Whacked Out Schedule

This next week is going to be a sporadic one for me online. It is not often that I have interruptions, but when I do, it seems as though it is all in the same week. But, it is what it is, and it truly cannot be avoided. I won’t be online Monday, which means I need to reschedule our VNA date and with Tuesday being Election Day, I’ve decided to push it to next week. Please block out Monday (9th) and Tuesday (10th) at 11p EST and we will certainly make up for lost time. As for the rest of the week, I will be on cam Tuesday and…

    Tell Me About Your Weekend

I’d love to hear about your weekend, good or bad, I want to hear it all. My weekend was busy, but that’s not unusual. Saturday I spent the day working on lonestarangel.com, my LoyalFans page and the clip stores. It’s a hustle that keeps me busy, but I enjoy it. After I spent the majority of the day working my hustle, I spent several hours on cam. It was a great Saturday, with no complaints. Thank you to everyone that joined me online, whether through the link on my site (FREE to members) or those that joined my cam page. I appreciate you all. Yesterday we spent our day on…

    October is Half Over

Oh my heck, where did the month go, it’s halfway to November! I do love October because that’s really the beginning of fall and I’m all about getting closer to Thanksgiving. My October has been uneventful, and for that I am thankful. We are starting to spend our days off in the mountains and I am looking forward to the change. This year we’ve spent a lot of our days off putzing around the house or running errands, with the occasional hike. We’re both getting cabin fever because, although, neither of us are that social, we still tend to get out of the house for dinners and breakfast a lot…

    Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

As much as I love Thanksgiving, I feel the need to wish our resident Canuck a very happy celebration today. Outlaw, whether you choose to spend it with family and friends, or alone, I hope that it is a day that you enjoy and that you feel the love of your online family; if only we could all celebrate together over a table of food and laughter.

    Happy TGIF!

Yes! Another week done, and another weekend to look forward to. Regardless of whether your schedule is flip flopped, I do hope that your Saturday and Sunday are good. I keep saying I need to stop wishing our life away, but I can’t help myself when it’s Friday. I am just thankful another week is over. I often wonder what it would be like to have a 2 day weekend, but I enjoy sharing my days off with MtnMan, so I see no reason to change that. Do you have weekend plans?

    October: Month of Candy Corn

I have a thing, for lack of better words, about buying a bag of candy corn each year. I won’t allow myself to buy a bag until October 1st and it has to be Brach’s brand. There really is no comparison, I’ve tried a few over the years, and my love of corn of candy dates back to my childhood. It’s true, so many of our likes and dislikes are because of that long ago period in our lives that shaped us into who we are. I like just 1 bag, and enjoy each piece because it’s what I do every October. I was never big on costumes, but Mom…

Red, Today is Yours (which means it’s celebration time!)

. . .so be happy and celebrate! Years ago you asked that I not make a big deal of it, or even mention it to our online community, however, a couple years ago you made mention of it in the chat room, voiding all previous requests of silence. So, today I would like to wish you a very happy birthday! I hope that you have had a beautiful day with family and friends.  What I really want to know is, how was your homemade lunch that your lady friend prepared for you? *wink* (if you’re not too sure which lady I’m referring to, let me give you a hint- not…

    Fall Days

I absolutely love the fall season, and it may very well be my favorite time. There is just something so beautiful watching the colors change, the wind blowing a cool breath and the cold nights. It is the beginning of winter soups and chili’s, and I’ve already got a list of planned stews for the upcoming months. Granted, I tend to cook soups and stews through the summer months, but I usually don’t make chili unless it’s winter time. I don’t know if that’s planned as much as it is trained from childhood. It would get so hot in Texas that no matter how cold the a/c was, no one…
